Electronic dance music forms a key part of music culture and has seen many changes since it first came to prominence in the early eighties and seen the development of many genres and sub genres of music. One of the key elements that applied to all genres was the vinyl record in its 12inch format became popular with DJ’s and collectors alike. More recently vinyl has seen a bit of a renaissance but in the world of dance music it has always been strong.
IMO Records operate this sector of the market and are one of the leading retailers selling dance music on vinyl along with clothing, merchandise, event tickets and DJ equipment and to keep pace with the ever changing music scene required a new identity across all of its key areas of operation.
One of the objectives for the design of the identity was to reflect some of the atmosphere experienced in a club environment. The graphic shape represents both laser and LED lighting and how it changes colour or shape. Rather than have a fixed colour for the logo we developed a colour palette to be used depending on situation and mood, just like in a club or similar event. Digital marketing is key to its success and a new website is coming soon.
